August: Nearly anything broken can be fixed
Wherein there were many gorgeous skies and the cub came home to visit several times. He will be graduating in September instead of February and Firestone will be transferring him to a shop close to home. I tried to photograph the Milky Way Galaxy by leaving my phone on a 30 second exposure, and was only slightly disappointed to have also captured light pollution from a near by highway.
We have a baby tree frog on our deck which is joyous since his predecessor Sir Anthony Hopkins disappeared. We named the new frog Tony Hopkins because he's still too tiny for Anthony II. We now have to lift the cushions before sitting to be sure he's not hiding there. On the night of the Persieds, I went out on the deck to watch, and little Tony was there beside me next to the a plant pot.
The past month was a stressful one. It's been 6 years since R passed away, and this month is especially hard on the cub. He always says that he doesn't want to be reminded of it -so I don't - I talk when he wants to. A dear kindred had gone missing and I left work early to join the search party. She was thankfully found by PD 4 days later. I had unexpected expenses clobber me, (breaks, tires, a crown replacement that turned into a root canal, and a flub by OPM regarding my medical insurance that was costly and could take 4 more weeks to correct). The timing of these financial hits was terrible, as I had promised myself that I would not work every single day during the summer to give myself a chance to recharge. Nevertheless, I will recover from it and will double up on extra shifts this coming fall and winter.
Small joys: Texts from friends with photos of their sunsets, and knowing that we are under the same sky watching all things celestial; a promising creative endeavor; driveway cocktails at Silvia's; an upcoming road trip with an old friend; and the phone call with the laughter and the pun about flea markets.

| Photo sent to me by son from the shop. I love the juxtaposition of his auto grease covered hands, and his love of nature that has endured since childhood. (Spotted Skipper Butterfly) |
