Dances With Sky

As a bird soars high
In the free holding of the wind,
Clear of the certainty of ground,
Opening the imagination of wings
Into the grace of emptiness
To fulfill new voyagings,
May your life awaken
To the call of its freedom. - John O'Donohue

Soar

I don’t know the name of this bird,
I only imagine his glittering beak
while the clouds—
which he has summoned
from the north—
which he has taught
to be mild, and silent—
thicken, and begin to fall
into the world below
like stars, or the feathers
of some unimaginable bird
that loves us, - Mary Oliver

Mmmm...it smells springy", he said then lost himself in his imaginings and the unseasonably warm breeze lifted his hair and his little wooden glider with it...

And in that moment my heart, my heart lifted too.

And moments wherein a slice of cheese would send our hearts soaring with laughter so high we were unable to speak words...

Unfurl My Heart

Praise the meadow
of dried weeds: yarrow, goldenrod, chicory,
the remains of summer. Praise the blue sky
that hasn't cracked yet. Praise the sun slipping down
behind the beechnuts, praise the quilt of leaves
that covers the grass: Scarlet Oak, Sweet Gum,
Sugar Maple. - Barbara Crooker

Bits of grass poking through a patchwork of snow and the scent of burning wood and Sugar Maple Sap...

soggy earth and buds hinting of Spring...

a stream awakening from a winter's nap...

a hill wishing to be rolled upon and mud looking for children to cling to...

and fallen branches posing as forts...

and a feather imitating sunshine tickled the heart of one who knows its secrets...

and later the sun came out to play as did our friends and there was a feast and a very long table.

Happy Valentine's Day!

So Much To Do

I suppose it was all especially entrancing to Wendy, because those
rampageous boys of hers gave her so much to do.
- J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan)

He makes paper crowns because "he needs a crown to play violin".

He tapes cardboard to his back and straps a mask to his head because it's "an experiment".

He pulls his hair back with a band and paints flames on his face because "it's awesome".

He paints me beautiful pink tulips and signs it SCC 2011 because, "he loves me".
