Ode to June

Wherein we went to his old pal Raven's graduation party and the ole Colt's Neck gang of childhood pals reunited. The wild fires in Canada made for some crazy sunsets over here.  We went to see the giant lego sculptures at MSV and wandered the beautiful gardens.  We honored his late dad's birthday al fresco at one of his fave cafes.  Our tree frog, Anthony Hopkins, has returned to our deck, singing songs to us at night.  I'm attempting to set up little scenes with miniatures to photograph him. The cub found his first turtle of the season, a rare wood turtle.  His love for all the critters still shines.  We spotted a white rabbit outside off the main road, but it would not let us near.  I treated myself to a cheap hammock for porch naps, no regrets.  The garden is blooming and the bees start early, working well into into the evening.  The battle of the japanese beetle and spotted lanternfly has begun.  On our way to drop off his GF we spotted a mama skunk with wee babies scurrying across a yard.  I turned the car around so we could drive past again for a better look, then on then on the way back home, a fox trotted right past our car and into the orchard.  The cub bought himself an electric guitar and there is much jamming going on above me right now.  He is looking for a job and working on getting his drivers license.  There was a drive to the mountains where we watched a rainstorm roll in. The discovery that our mantises hatched, and naming one, Jade.

Meanwhile Covid continues and as of June 23 there were more than 1.2 million new cases globally and in more than 7,100 deaths reported in the past 28 days. The WHO cautioned that this is not an accurate reflection of virus activity, because of reduced testing and spotty case reporting.

Russia continues to bomb Ukraine.
