Seven Rides Around the Sun: True Colors Birthday Celebration

Another year...another wild rumpus!  Scenes from the celebration...
Waiting for his friends to arrive...

I carved a fierce fruit salad

And we had cake, of course...

Dirt Cake with gummy worms and candy rocks...

Carrot cupcakes with white chocolate cream cheese icing,
splattered with natural coloring made from berries and such.

Soakers and T-shirts and goggles for all.  Satch wanted to have his
own Holi festival of color after seeing this video of Holi 2012.
We made our own non-toxic gulal from washable tempera paint.

But only he who sees, takes off his shoes." - Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Goody Bags for our guests: Washcloth, colorful bath fizzers,
and a mini gumball machine!

Tomorrow is officially his big day, and we can't wait give him these gifts....
A gift that I made for our monster-loving boy

Close up

Got him these cool beetle napkins for his lunchbox

And this game which I loved as a child

what a beautiful creative amazing dynamic party. my boys have winter birthdays and we cannot have parties (asthma/viruses=hospital) with kids. I am tempted to move them both to better month so i don't feel so sad we are missing the good stuff. ;)
