A New Look

I created a new banner for the blog and would like to know what you think. (It was an html nightmare!) The photo was taken right after Satch was born. I can't believe how fast he's grown! Sometimes I wish I could slow down time...

Do you like the new banner on Mother Rising?
Yes, I love the new look!
No, I liked the old look better!

I adore the new look. How did you replace the banner. I'm dying to update mine!

Here's how I did it:
*before you try this, open a second window so that you have the original template available. and for extra safety, copy and paste the original header script and email to yourself so you'll always have it. it's also not a bad idea to save a copy of your blog to you desktop just incase you ever need to restore it.

1. create your banner
*size must fit banner window
(mine was 660px wide x 119px high)

2. upload to blog (you don't have to publish post)
3. click edit html on top right corner
4. copy & paste the first image url starting with http
(the second image url is a smaller version)
5. go to template
6. look for script beginning with "header"
7. replace it with this script below:

/* Header
----------------------------------------------- */
#header {background: url("http://YOUR IMAGE URL GOES HERE") no-repeat left bottom;
margin:0 0 0;
width:660px;
margin:0 auto 10px;333;
border:1px solid #222;
}
#blog-title {
margin:5px 5px 0;
padding:20px 20px .25em;
border:1px solid #F87;
border-width:1px 1px 0;
font-size:200%;
line-height:1.2em;
color:#FFF;
text-transform:uppercase;
letter-spacing:.2em;
}
#blog-title a {
color:#FFF;
text-decoration:none;
}
#blog-title a:hover {
color:#FFF;
}
#description {
margin:0 5px 5px;
padding:0 20px 20px;
border:1px solid #F87;
border-width:0 1px 1px;
font:78%/1.4em "Trebuchet MS",Trebuchet,Arial,Verdana,Sans-serif;
text-transform:uppercase;
letter-spacing:.2em;
color:#FFF;
}
8. you can change the color of the font or boders by changing the color:#
*for a list of color codes visit this website http://www.webreference.com/html/reference/color/propcolor.html#HEAD-2

There you have it!
*On my template, the blog title and description hovers over the banner and can't be changed so I had to create a banner without the text. Some templates are a little different to so you may have to tweak it.
