May : The Merry Month
It was the Mother's Day that brought with it a blender that can make fresh hot soup. There was a hike to Stonyman Summit and when my son bought me flowers. There was a bluebird, a luna wing, a hawk feather, the first bass of the season, and 17 year cidadas that came 4 years too early. There was crops in the garden and the locust trees that flung their blooms to the earth and scented the air otherworldly. There was the wonder of Wonder, and a new recipes destined to become old favorites. But most of all, there was the planning of a 12th birthday party!!!
Location: NYC roots, now blooming in Northern Virginia, United States

"To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty...
To leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition."
