We did it! We found our home. It's has everything we want and within our budge. It has a small foot print, with an open floor plan with tall ceilings so it feels larger than it is. It is low maintenance, low energy. It's within walking distance to a fishing lake which is our son's passion. It's a short drive to our favorite mountains, orchards and farms. We picked a lot that should enable us to see the mountain tops, and the sunset from our table so we will never miss a sunset again. There is a small room that I can use as a studio, and a formal dining room that we will use as a library. There is a loft area that we are enclosing to be used as a guest room so friends and family can use our house whenever and for as long as they like.
The main road that encircles the hood is named for Rachel Carson who is one of my favorites. The street where we are building is named for the moth below. There's lots of wildlife there...fox, bear, coyote, bobcat, turkey, deer, and all sorts of migratory bird. To say we are elated is an understatement. It also feels a lot like - relief. I'm weary of renting, and moving. S feels the same way. This is the first neighborhood that we looked at that S fell in love with. So here we are. It's happening.
