What I Found While Walking

as it touches then lifts away from the ground." - Mary Oliver

She Had a Dream That I Gave Her

She had a dream that I gave her
my appendix to remind her of something
and she told me to throw it in the river.
So we went to the deepest gorge
and I threw it over the bridge
and it turned into a beautiful black bird
and it flew away,
singing a song as it left.

I said,  "Some things are too powerful for the river".

Factory of Faith

"I've got a factory of faith and love" - Red Hot Chili Peppers

He said, "I am certain that I have found the problem and you will be feeling a LOT better".
"I have total confidence and faith in you", I said.

An exploratory laparoscopy revealed a cranky appendix and many adhesions even behind my gallbladder.  My surgeon removed the appendix and adhesions leaving only those behind the gallbladder as he didn't feel they were causing my pain.  Recovery is a wee bit slower than I had anticipated, but that pain in my side is gone and I'm grateful.  I can't believe how different I feel.  The above photo was taken the day after surgery, it's more swollen now and the bruises have appeared.

Now, I just have to take it easy and heal.  I've got elderberry lozenges for that pesky sore throat from the breathing tube.

And homemade beignets made by Mighty Girls....

I'm looking to adopt an orphaned Roomba to stave off my killer dust bunnies.  They breed quickly here.   Seriously, it's like paranormal.

In the meantime, I'm taking more orders for Mother's Day necklaces...

and holding my incisions when I have to laugh...

Easter 2012

“The rabbits mingled naturally. They did not talk for talking's sake, in the artificial manner that human beings - and sometimes even their dogs and cats - do. But this did not mean that they were not communicating; merely that they were not communicating by talking.” ― Richard Adams, Watership Down

The bunny came and filled our woolen eggs that we made and hid them around our home. They were filled with sour Jelly Bellies and Nestle Crunch eggs. Satchel loves sour and crunchy! The thoughtful bunny tucked a few gifts into his basket: A pocket microscope for this explorations, a vintage hanky for his Spring allergies, blue Silly Putty for his fine motor skills, and a hedgehog nail brush for his grubby mitts. His daddy and I presented our little nature boy with a ginormous Ostrich egg. He thought it was magnificent. We brunched with friends and returned home to dye some eggs.

His Happiness

Musings...

Mendings...

Makings..

"Mama, I feel like doing something artsy", he said. Then he made a smudge fan inspired by these two books that we bought at the library book sale.

Mailings...

A parcel arrived from a faraway land from one of his favorite authors...and he laughed for joy.
