"Let me abide in your shadow —
Let me hold on
To the edge of your robe
As you determine what
You must let be lost
And what will be saved." - Mary Oliver (The Fox)
"Mama, come quick the fox is here", he squealed and points to the tree line. "Get down", I whispered, "and don't look directly at it". The fox determined we were not a threat and walked right past us, down the sidewalk and into the woods. We could see the fox was suffering from mange.
We have seen the fox several times since our move to Big Woods.
I called the Wildlife Rescue League and they explained the steps we need to take to feed and eventually medicate the fox so we're going to try to help the critter before the cold weather sets in.
