Cat Nap

"Our House is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to seem so hard
Now everything is easy 'cause of you"
- Crosby, Still and Nash

Satchel took a nap with Elvis.

I feel sad for Elvis. He doesn't get as much attention as he used to since my arms are usually occupied by Satch.

An Afternoon Walk

We took an afternoon walk past the ivy covered stone gate, over sidewalks crackled and mossy...the ground, a confetti of reds, oranges and yellows. The air was cool and damp. The sky, a Paynes Gray wash. We could smell the earth. It smelled of Autumn.

(Satchel uses the front bar of his stroller as a foot rest)

Satchel's first greeting was from this little Calico. She literally kept throwing herself in front of the pram. She wouldn't let us get down the sidewalk.

We had to go back in the direction we came and take a different route.

Satchel's second greeting was from this pooch who waited patiently for our arrival. We could see him watching us in the distance.
His name is Elvis.

Satchel smiled at Elvis.

Warm Slippers, Chilly Morn.

Oh how I love his toes, but it's a bit chilly this morning.

Today is Satchel's Grandma's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Grammy!

"And all the world will live as one..."

Satchel was given another huge box of clothing from the Spinner family. One of my favorite garments is a cute little romper that has little John Lennon animal illustrations on it and the lyrics to "Imagine".

Thank you: Renee, Andrew, Kenedi, Jace and Madison!

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter - ee cummings

Satchel has lost all of his newborn hair. His new hair is much darker. He has a crown on the right side of the back of his head and we call it the "Hairricane".

This Cookbook was a birthday gift from my husband's parents. It's wonderful! It even has the daily requirements of protein, vitamins etc. that will support breastfeeding mothers.

A New Nest

I just heard about this free blogging site and thought I would give it a try since I maxed out my free space with earthlink. Satchel is now 4 1/2 months old. He's bright, charming, has an amazing sense of humor and truly adorable. He loves music...his favorite songs are:
- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
- Manamana
- Yellow Submarine
- Love Me Do
I'm sure there will be more...

yesterday was my birthday. i'm 42 years old and i can hardly believe it. i have no idea what 42 should feel like, but i can tell you that it feels pretty good. my first birthday as a mother... i played one of my favorite songs, "birthday" by the sugarcubes (aka bjork, whom i adore) from the "Life's Too Good" album.... and danced with my baby. life's too good indeed!

"She's painting huge books
And glues them together
They saw a big raven
It glided down the sky
She touched it
Ohh...

Today is a birthday
They're smoking cigars
He's got a chain of flowers....."
